The certification authority SNCA was established on 30 April 2006 pursuant to Article 67 of the Act No. 215/2004 Coll. on Protection of classified information and on the amendment and supplementing of certain acts as amended. Its primary role is to provide certification services in the field of classified information. The Information Technology Division of the Information Security and Electronic Signature Department of the National Security Authority is the SNCA operator.

The certification authority SNCA was accredited by the NSA on 15 August 2006 and has become the accredited certification authority pursuant to Act No. 215/2002 Coll. on Electronic signature and on the amendment and supplementing of certain acts as amended.

SNCA provides certification services to the National Security Authority, to selected department of the Ministry of the Interior of the Slovak Republic and to selected department of the Ministry of Justice of the Slovak Republic.
